The Mantra: "OM NAMO SHIVAYA!"

According to Tantric lore, the immortal spiritual principle is known as Shiva, whose essence is transcendental. Shiva is idealized as the Supreme Yogi, who can "conquer death."

Among Shiva's most important symbols are:

These three obviously related symbols are very archaic and can be found in many different cultures. They mean "death transcended," the power over death through Yogic or shamanistic expertise. Spiritual resurrection.

Another important symbol of Shiva is the erect male organ, the penis or phallus, known in India as the Linga or Lingam. This is an archaic symbol, found in all pagan cultures. An icon of male power, the Shiva Lingam symbolizes male sexuality exalted, controlled and transformed into pure penetrating spiritual insight. The several Harappan "Shiva" seals all clearly depict the Yogic deity seated in meditation, his Lingam erect.
